One giant leap, or one small step, of courage
Alchemy skills to practice: Courage, Curiosity
Embarking on writing a transformational guide to heal people, the planet and the ailing healthcare system has always felt like a big goal. When we started this 8 years ago, we asked ourselves, “who are we to do this?”
The answer always was: “After all we have been through, all we have learned and researched, who are we to not take the leap and go for it? No one else is addressing this need in the unique way we can.”
And so began our giant leap of a journey to create what you will see evolve on this site…
A free transformational online course supporting you with skills to shift from patient to Alchemist of your life
A sampling of what we call Well-being Stewardship decision-making tools. You can’t use your traditional sick-care, disease based (pathogenesis) methods of making choices when your goal is well-being and Vibrant Living (salutogenesis).
Mini e-books, breaking our original 33 chapter book (with dozens of fresh ways to make decisions aimed to cultivate Vibrant Living) into digestible chunks you can put into action immediately
We lived this same journey you are invited to join
Everything you will have access to we created as a result of our challenges - health challenges, less than optimal patient experience experiences and interacting with systems that don’t support healing and well-being.
More than a “leap of faith” to all of this, it has been a leap of courage.
Courage to travel to the beat of a different drummer exploring the territory of “alternative medicine” in new ways - ways not bounded by the category of “alternative.”
Courage to say that systemic transformational change will happen when patients stop adhering to the role of patient - and people have the courage to be Alchemists of their lives.
Courage to redefine the notion of health and well-being, embracing the concepts of ancient medical sciences to evolve the concept of Vibrant Living.
Everyone knows “the system” needs an overhaul. This body of work equips everyday people to create the change by simply making choices aligned with well-being and being an Alchemist.
Join us. Take a leap, or a step, of courage!
Whether you are struggling with something labeled as a chronic condition, are confused by so many choices that you don’t know what to do, or intuitively know that while you say you “feel good.” you believe there’s another level of “good,” or you’re just curious about another way other than the healthcare system as you know it - this is the place for you.
Cultivate your inner sense of curiosity.. and take the leap to learn more
So, maybe right now you don’t know what being an Alchemist might mean.
Maybe you’re a bit afraid to step out of your habitual way of making decisions within the disease based system.
Or, perhaps you may not feel “good,” but you’ve become comfortable with your life as it is.
Stepping beyond self-created limitations is what the leap of courage is all about.

5 minute Alchemist practice
Get curious about the archetype of the Alchemist. You can start here, or explore other resources.
How will you feel when you shift from the role of “patient” (in any setting) to the role of Alchemist of your life. How does your language change? What do you notice about your posture? Do you notice a shift in your thoughts about interactions with practitioners?
Wizards (somewhat famously as a result of Harry Potter) have their wands. What totem or artifact can you find or create to represent being an Alchemist? This might take a bit more than 5 minutes. If you choose the creative route, you’re also exploring another Alchemist skill of creativity.
Every hero on their journey gathers mentors, a tribe for their journey (PALS) and totems, artifacts or magic potions that will help them on their journey. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Put a stone in your pocket, your purse, your nightstand, your desk . . . give away stones to your PALS and encourage them to sign up for emails and shop Amazon to support getting this work launched.
Bonsai trees represent harmony and symbolize the stages and processes of life. Tending to a Bonsai tree may symbolize tending to your well-being as an Alchemist.
